Thousands of rabbits are sold each month in markets all over Thailand. I bought two rabbits last year at one of the local markets. From my experiences buying a rabbit in Bangkok, Thailand, I've learned the best places to buy a rabbit and also what not to do when you buy a rabbit. These tips will help you with the best possible experience to buy a rabbit in Thailand and will also, hopefully, make sure you end up with a healthy and happy rabbit.1. Not buy a rabbit on the street – Every night on hundreds of streets in Bangkok and the rest of the country, you will see little stalls set up with rabbit breeders selling rabbits. These rabbits are crushed into small cages, or lying on top of them and tied with a leash around their necks so they do not fall off. They are often wearing little dresses (which I think is an incredibly cruel thing to do to a defenseless rabbit) and they sit for hours inhaling the toxic smoke from the terrible traffic in Bangkok. I made the mistake of buying a rabbit from a breeder so (mainly because I felt so sorry for the little things crammed into a teeny tiny cage and wearing a little pink Tutu). The rabbit I bought was sick from the minute I got it and it died less than a week later. Thai friends have told me they have had similar experiences, so you should not buy a rabbit from a street stall.2. Make sure you know what sex the rabbit is – As much as Thais are incredibly nice people, you can not always rely on sellers when they tell you about an item they sell. Case in point, let them not sex a rabbit for you. I bought two rabbits at Chatuchak Weekend Market and asked the breeder what sex they were. She was adamant they had two boys, so I bought them. Five months later, I had two new arrivals – I did not know two males can mate and produce babies! Make sure that if you buy a rabbit in Thailand, you either sex rabbit yourself or take a friend who can do it for you. Gender Determination a baby rabbit is very difficult, but especially if you buy more than one, it is important to be sure what sex the rabbits are.3. Buy rabbits at a Thai market – Many rabbit breeders in Thailand sell their rabbits in the local markets. At Chatuchak Weekend Market is probably more than 50 rabbits breeders selling rabbits. Make sure, however, if you buy a rabbit in a local market in Thailand, you walk around first and check out all the rabbit breeders. If their stores are dirty and rabbits do not look well taken care of or if there are many rabbits crammed into a small cage, you can guarantee that they have not been taken care of back in the breeding farm, either. Only buy a rabbit breeder in a Thai market that has a clean shop, clean cages, offering to sell you (or give you) good quality rabbit food and not to pressure you too much to purchase.4. Buy from a breeder who knows about rabbits – Surprisingly, many rabbit breeders in Thailand do not always know much about rabbits. The woman I bought from gave me bad information about sex in my rabbits, but she had some good advice about which cage to buy what food was best, she knew about Timothy hay, what rabbit food is healthy and sizes of food portions etc . Many of the farmers markets in Thailand do not speak much English, but they will usually speak enough that they can tell you a little bit about the rabbit, you want to buy and what to feed it. If they do not, move on to a rabbit breeder that does.5. Prices for rabbits in Thailand – The price of rabbits in Thailand differs a great deal. You can buy them from some Thai market growers as cheap as 100 baht (about U.S. $ 3). My recommendation is to pay a little more like from personal experience, making it cheaper does not tend to live very long. I paid 250 baht (U.S. $ 7.35), which is quite expensive in Thailand, for each of mine. Many markets in Thailand sell rabbit cages and rabbit supplies, and they are very cheap. There are also a few pet shops here, but they are few and far between and are expensive. The little pet shop in local markets are the best and if you are in Bangkok, Chatuchak Market, many pet shops that sell rabbit supplies.7. If you are wary about buying a rabbit, check with a Thai veterinarian – If you're still not sure about where you plan to buy a rabbit from being honest, you can also check with a Thai veterinarian. Most of them will be able to give you the name and address of a breeder even if you are in Bangkok, make sure that they are near where you live. Bangkok is huge and you do not want to have to travel for two hours in a taxi to get to the rabbit and then another two hours home, accompanied by a delirious rabbit in a cage.Overall, use some common sense when you think about buying a rabbit in Thailand. Do not believe everything the seller tells you and not buy the first rabbit breeders, you see. Shop around a bit before you make your decision. Buy a rabbit in Thailand, may be a lot of fun. The main difference between an American lunchbox and a Japanese one is the actual box and contents look. For example, Japanese bento, usually made of a coated material that started in Japan and consists mainly of sweet rice balls formed into shapes such as a pig or cat. Rice balls can be formed not by the hand, but by placing rice lay wrapped in a cookie cutter. Push the rice out of the cookie cutter and ta-da! Cute and easy! Just ordinary rice can easily seaweed shapes cut out of seaweed sheets or purchased in the shapes and sprinkled over rice for decoration. If residues are available, place small amounts in special bento cups. If you do not have Japanese cups, do not worry.
